Sostenibilidad en la industria de la moda

RESUMEN: La industria de la moda está en el punto de mira de la normativa en materia de sostenibilidad. En la Unión Europea, a través de la Estrategia Textil enmarcada en el Pacto Verde, la Comisión Europea está desarrollando un plan para fomentar la economía circular en el sector textil y lograr que la industria sea más sostenible en el futuro. Uno de los aspectos centrales que aborda esta estrategia es el impacto medioambiental de la moda rápida. Los recientes Reglamentos y Directivas en la materia llegan plagados de exigencias y buenas intenciones no siempre acordes con la realidad de una industria cuya producción no hace sino aumentar, mientras la concienciación de los consumidores no parece crecer al mismo ritmo, a juzgar por el éxito de la moda rápida y ultrarrápida.

ABSTRACT: The fashion industry is in the spotlight of sustainability regulations. In the European Union, through the Textile Strategy framed in the Green Deal, the European Commission is developing a plan to promote the circular economy in the textile sector and make the industry more sustainable in the future. One of the central aspects that this strategy addresses is the environmental impact of fast fashion. The recent Regulations and Directives on the matter come full of requirements and good intentions that are not always in line with the reality of an industry whose production only increases, while consumer awareness does not seem to grow at the same rate, judging by the success of fast and ultra-fast fashion.
